Ikat and suzanni motifs have made their way from the streets of Morocco, Turkey and other eastern countries to pillows, furniture, curtains and bedding in beach houses on both coasts.   An Indonesian word, ikat is a craft in which one tie-dyes and weaves yarn to create an intricately designed fabric. Suzanni is a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries.  Both patterns can be mixed with dark stained furniture and accessories to give your house a beachy, bohemian vibe.

A canopied daybed with Moroccon pillows is a great reading nook and adds color to a backyard or pool area. (photo courtesy of myhomeideas.com)
